This quick review was provided by Amanda, whose daughter is allergic to peanuts.

We made advance reservations to eat here for lunch. Although this was not our first trip to Disney, it was the first trip with our PA daughter. I had heard great reviews about Disney and food allergies but was still nervous.

We didn’t have to wait too long to be seated. Our waitress was friendly and when I mentioned our daughter’s allergy (I had also noted it on the reservation) she said she would note that on the order and make sure the Chef knew. I asked if we needed to speak to him ourselves and she said she would send him out if we wanted but that she would make sure he knew. She wasn’t pushy or anything, she just seemed like she understood our situation so I was okay with that.

My Husband and I ordered the much talked about “Le Cellier” Mushroom Filet Mignon & Cheddar soup and my 2 daughters ordered pasta with marinara sauce. It really was just as good as I had heard. Yum! My daughters enjoyed their lunch. After we were finished the waitress offered to bring out sundaes for the girls if we wanted to do dessert. This is where I hesitated. We had never ordered dessert for my daughter at a restaurant. Would it be safe? The waitress assured me they would make sure it was peanut free. She just really reassured me so I said okay and they brought out the sundaes. My daughter’s (with the PA) sundae came out with a food allergy alert pick sticking out of her sundae and no sprinkles. The chef brought these out himself and was very friendly. The only complaint…very minor…was that my other daughter’s sundae had sprinkles on it because she does not have any food allergies. Luckily, there wasn’t too much complaint from my PA daughter but could have been a total meltdown-one sibling getting something different from the other! All in all we had a fabulous experience here with no problems.

Recommend for peanuts: Yes

Another great quick review provided by Sheri, whose daughter is allergic to dairy and egg.

I am a big fan of Beauty and the Beast and as such was very exited to see Belle’s world come to life in the new expansion of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. We visited in May of 2013 and we visited new Fantasyland on our very first day. We went to Gaston’s Tavern for a quick snack.

I told the woman a the register we were dining with food allergies (my young daughter is allergic to dairy and eggs and we all eat on her diet) and she gave us the ingredient book. Food allergies at Gaston's TavernMost of the items there are pre packaged and we choose hummus and pretzel chips. They also have veggies and ranch dip and apples and carmel dip. The fruit and veggies were fine but the dips contained allergens. However the cast member showed us that while they were packaged together the dipping sauce was in it’s own sealed container.

The highlight of the stop was the LeFou’s Brew, which Disney describes as “Frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow and topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam”. It was so good we came back later in the trip for some more!

Another wonderful quick review provided by Sheri, whose daughter is allergic to dairy and egg.

Food allergies at Biergarten RestaurantMy family recently dined at the biergarten in the Germany pavilion at Epcot. I had made advanced reservations for all of our table service restaurants well in advance and had our allergies noted at that time. Our party consisted of my in laws, my husband, myself, and our 7 year old daughter who has severe dairy and egg allergies. My husband and I eat on her diet when we are with her.

The biergarten is a very popular buffet style restaurant, please get advanced reservations ASAP if you want to dine here. It was crowded and took about 15 minutes for a chef to come out to see us. however, when the chef arrived he was courteous and kind and took us right to the buffet. there were many options for us to choose from including cold deli meats, pickled beets and red cabbage, sauerkraut, knockwurst (one of my daughter’s favorites), german potato salad, and pork loin roast with apple butter. Please try the pretzel rolls, they are wonderful! Our family has a german background so these are all foods out daughter is familiar with. The food is excellent and the chef offered to fix any dishes we wanted in the kitchen and bring them to us if we were worried about cross contamination.

During dinner there is a German band who take the stage to preform. a dance floor is available for dancing and polkas (practice your chicken dance). The restaurant is very family friendly and in addition to serious polka dancers there are always little ones jumping and hopping around.

One item to note: you sit at a long tables with other parties. This means there will be allergens present at the table. We sat our daughter in between us and she felt safe. Because we had a chef come out to the table the other guests who sat with us were curious about daughter’s allergies. We answered any questions and they were amazed at the level of service we received.

Tokyo Dining food allergy quick review

Another fantastic quick review provided by Sheri, whose daughter is allergic to dairy and egg.

Tokyo Dining with a food allergyTokyo Dining has become our traditional “final stop” of our Disney vacations. It is a lovely restaurant with a calm, serene atmosphere which is welcomed at the end of what can be a hectic stay.

Our party consisted of my in laws, my husband, myself, and our 7 year old daughter who has severe dairy and egg allergies. My husband and I eat on her diet when we are with her. One of the reasons we like this restaurant as much as we do is because we can eat almost all of the items just as they are presented on the menu with no alterations. The manager came to our table and we told him we needed to have a dairy and egg free meal. He replied with those magic words “That’s all? That’s so easy!”

My daughter had the teriyaki chicken kids meal (chicken, carrots, and rice) which comes in a bullet train plate. She also had eel and salmon sushi. There was no food left on her plate by the end of the meal. She even ate from mom and dad’s plates, I also had teriyaki chicken and my husband had salmon. We also truly enjoyed our food. The manager came back as we were eating and after our meal to make sure we were satisfied. This was appreciated as it was very busy in the restaurant
while we were there.

Katsura Grill in Epcot – food allergy quick review

This quick review was provided by Sheri, whose daughter is allergic to dairy and egg.

Dining with food allergies at Katsura GrillWe stopped here for a quick dinner on 5-10-13 because from first glance the menu seemed very accommodating to our daughter’s severe dairy and egg allergies. once inside we asked to speak with someone about allergies and the waitstaff was quick to get ahold of the manager on duty. We informed him of our allergies and he pulled out the binder with the ingredient list for us.

We eat Japanese food quite often because, while we do need to be on a sharp lookout for eggs, the use of dairy is almost non existent. Imagine our surprise when we found out that the teriyaki sauce contained whey. This meant that all that nearly all the items on the menu had milk in them. The manager explained that while the beef and chicken dished were marinated in the teriyaki sauce but the salmon was not. He offered to make us plain grilled salmon with vegetables and white rice. Our seven year old is not a chicken nugget and french fries kind of girl and salmon is one of her favorite foods. So she and my husband had salmon. We were there at a slow time and the waitresses kept my daughter entertained and even made her an origami crane as a keepsake!

While the food was not what we expected the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us.

Recommend for dairy and egg: Maybe

Trail’s End at Fort Wilderness – Food allergy review

This quick review was provided by Sheri, whose daughter is allergic to dairy and egg.

Food allergy-free dining at Trails EndMy family recently took a vacation to Walt Disney World. Our first meal was at the Trail’s End at the Fort Wilderness campground. I had made advanced reservations for all of our table service restaurants well in advance and had our allergies noted at that time. Our party consisted of my in laws, my husband, myself, and our 7 year old daughter who has severe dairy and egg allergies. My husband and I eat on her diet when we are with her.

Trail’s End is a buffet and my in laws were able to start eating right away. we are used to waiting for a chef to come out but this time the chef was very quick, we did not even have time to place out drink orders before he showed up! He offered to walk us through the buffet and show us what we could have and what he could modify for us. I know that many people with allergies are rightly worried about cross contamination at buffet setting and I would like to note that we were the first seating of the evening and the buffet was virtually untouched. However, the chef still offered to make us a separate dish of anything we wanted if we had any concerns.

The chef was wonderful. he talked directly to our daughter, and the first thing he said was he would not let her leave without dessert (if mom and dad approved). Then he showed her what was ok. and most of the dinner foods were OK! pulled pork, ribs, fried and baked chicken, baked potatoes, and green beans were all safe. the corn had butter added but the chef offered to bring us some butter free corn. He also sent a dish of earth balance buttery spread to the table for our potatoes. My daughter saw salmon on the buffet and asked about it, it was not OK but the chef made her special salmon and she ate every bite of it (much to his delight). Corn bread and all desserts were off limits but this is something we are used to.

The food was wonderful as was the service. After we had eaten “all we cared to enjoy” our daughter got a dairy\egg free ice cream sunday with chocolate sauce and gummy bears. The chef came back at the end of our meal to thank us and told our daughter that he would be happy to cook for her whenever she came back. The experience was so great I considered canceling my other reservations to come back. Our waiter let us know that there were hula hoops and horseshoes waiting to be played with outside after we left.

This was hands down my favorite meal of the trip. And that is due to the wonderful service from the staff and chef. They in no way seemed inconvenienced by us being there and went out of their way to give my daughter a “normal” meal. And as any parent of an allergic child knows, it just does not get any better than that.

Liberty Inn food allergy quick review

This quick review was provided by Leslie, whose sone is allergic to Tree Nuts, Egg, Peanuts, Wheat and Dairy.

Liberty Inn - America Pavilion - EpcotWhen I mentioned that my son had food allergies, the cashier pulled out a notebook containing information about the ingredients in their various foods. He also called the manager who discussed my son’s food allergies with us and asked what he would like. He decided on a hamburger with a cookie and carrot sticks. The manager asked us if we would like for all of our food to be ready at the same time and gave me the option of either waiting at the counter or receiving a pager. We chose the pager and enjoyed being able to find a table and my son enjoyed coloring while we waited on our food to arrive. When the pager went off, my husband went to get the food and the manager returned to our table with my husband carrying my son’s food on a separate tray. I appreciated the personal attention that she gave us.

I would like to see more restaurants have the food for the food allergic person be ready at the same time as the food for the rest of the family. I also really liked the pager.

Columbia Harbour House quick review

Dining with food allergies at Columbia Harbour HouseOH my goodness. The chicken tenders. I LOVE the chicken tenders at the Columbia Harbor house. Gluten free, they were always moist and well seasoned. I paired them with the broccoli. If you are looking for a quick pick me up, small lunch or dinner, this is a good plate. It doesn’t weigh you down, and you get at least three good sized tenders.

I was never hungry after leaving, and the atmosphere was awesome- It’s much bigger on the inside than expected. Grab an upstairs room for a quiet retreat – strollers often don’t make it up the stairs, so it tends to house couples and families with older kids. Lots of little nooks to find and hide away in from the heat!

Dining at Be Our Guest with food allergiesI ordered the Turkey Sandwich for lunch at Be Our Guest. It normally is served on a baguette, but for me, I believe it was a Udi’s HotDog Bun. It was very tasty. Since this was my first trip with food allergies, I was concerned. I ordered from the screen by touching the food allergies. From there you could select your allergy & they pulled up what is good for you. Dining gluten-free at Be Our GuestSitting at our table with our magic rose, they brought my meal out separate than my dining companions. It had a flag in it marking it as allergy friendly. The taste was great, I could actually go for one right now. Worth checking out.

This quick review was provided by Larry, whose son is allergic to milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, and sesame.

Hollywood & Vine with food allergiesI’m very surprised to read the review submitted by Gretchen about this restaurant. We were there back in November 2012 and my son is allergic to milk, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. The chef made my son fresh pancakes and waffles, bacon, and fresh fruit. Maybe it all depends on what chef is on duty? Surprising because we’ve eaten at 10-15 different restaurants at Disney and none of them ever offered us
frozen waffles.
